To pluck or not to pluck?

Yeah, that’s the question, and I’m going to answer it. I’m no fashion or makeup expert, but I am an artist, so does that make me just a little bit more qualified to offer advice on plucking your eyebrows? Uh… no. But, I’m speaking my mind anyway because I think most of this is from observation, common sense, and my own personal experiences.

Fact #1: Thin eyebrows make you look older. Why? Because it was “in” when we were young and WANTING to look older, but do we now? No! So, just do the opposite! Let your eyebrows grow a bit. It will make you look younger, but don’t stop there… keep reading!

Fact #2: If you are going to grow out your eyebrows, you HAVE to pluck those ugly strays. (ONLY the strays—don’t get carried away!) Most of you have probably noticed stray hairs popping up where they are not supposed to be. Get ‘em! Don’t just focus on the eyebrows. Check your chin and upper lip regularly. A hairy chin and lip will make you look older than over-plucked eyebrows!

Fact #3: While you are letting your pencil-thin brows grow out, you will need to fill in with a pencil, but don’t just obviously paint or draw them on. Don’t look like a clown. Yes, people do notice it and it does look ridiculous.

Fact #4: If you’ve been over-plucking your eyebrows, they will not grow back as thick as they probably once were. You will need to add a small amount of natural color just to bring them out a bit, but don’t do too much! It’s not supposed to be noticeable!

Finally, remember… thin eyebrows = an older look; stray hairs = an old and sloppy look; and, full, but well-groomed eyebrows can do wonders for bringing out those gorgeous eyes that no one’s noticed for years! (And don’t forget to check the rest of your face!)
